Tuesday - filming continued

So on Tuesday we were relatively unfortunate. We had planned to meet with Graham at his store at 2.30pm. He told us to arrive there for 2.00 so we can get an interview with Craig, a guy who works for him. After doing so, Graham failed to show, and after waiting a few hours, we decided to leave! We have reorganised to do the rest of the Graham interviews and the interviews with his customers at a later date!

Filming with Graham: 12th November

On Monday me and Sam went to the Grinning Demon again to ask Graham some more questions for the documentary. These questions included how he felt when he first bought the store, how the store was run when Manny was there and others which are quite similar. As it was near closing time we filmed Graham closing up the store as part of a sequence which potentially could be used as the closing scene in the documentary.

Filming at Hammerlock Wrestling

On Saturday the 10th November, we went to Tonbridge at the Angel Centre to film the Hammerlock wrestling with Graham. This is an event that he has regularly attended since he was a young child, and in the recent years since he has owned the Grinning Demon, he has become actively involved with it.
We filmed 3 of the 6 matches, which we can use some of as establishing shots. We filmed these on 2 cameras, one in a fixed position and the other was handheld. Part of this was also doing a favour for Graham, as he requires whole matches to be filmed to eventually place on his website (which is one place you will be able to find this documentary online when complete!)
We did interviews with Graham after the event, talking about his involvement in it, and how he came to get involved and what he does, as well as talking to Dean Champion - one of the main organisers of the event.
Dean spoke about his involvement as well as Graham's, and how having Graham help promote these events has helped the event in general.
Overall, it was a very good day, and very useful, even though this sequence will only take up about 1/2 minutes of the film, we got what we needed and are pleased with the results!

Filming at The Grinning Demon: November 8th

On Thursday we went back to Maidstone town centre to film at the Grinning Demon to film some actuality shots and ask Graham some more questions about his business. In this we had Graham talking to us about his business whilst he put comics in plastic sleeves and stacked the shelves, not only did he talk us through this he also talked to us about some of the customers and regulars that come into the store and how much he makes in a day.

Whilst we we filming the shop flooded with customers, which meant that this was one of his good days. We took this opportunity to film these customers whilst they were being served and browsing the shop. In total we had a good day we got a variety of shots and interviews and we were pretty pleased with ourselves.

Hammersmith Wrestling Event

On Saturday, James and I are on our way to the Angel Centre in Tonbridge with Graham, in order to film the Hammerlock Wrestling event - an event which Graham always goes to.
While this is not essential to the documentary idea, it is an interesting location and place that we are able to film, and show part of what Graham does as part of his life of running a comic book store.
It also will give us an insight and chance to interview other people that know Graham, who can let us know how much of an asset (if at all) Graham has been since he has started helping out at these kind of events.
Sadly, we can not film at Graham's own event named Demoncon, as this was held back in September, before this unit even began, and the next one coming up is in March. However, this is still very interesting and as Graham has an interesting role to play within the event it should make for good filming and add a dynamic depth to our documentary.
